first taste of winter...

Whitney had her eyes on this "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree", but we told her we should let it grow another ten or fifteen years.

Hopefully it won't be too long until we get some snow at home!

James and I had a lot to be thankful for this year celebrating Whitney's first Thanksgiving. We were in Hudson for the long weekend and got in lots of quality time with the Carlson side of the family. However, time still seems to go by too quickly.

The weekend before Thanksgiving, Whitney had a special visitor. Mommy's friend Amy flew down for a fun girls weekend.

7 months old!!

Today our little girl turns 7 months old! Time has flown by and we're constantly amazed at how much she has grown, physically and developmentally. In the past week Whitney has mastered sitting up all on her own. She can't crawl quite yet, but she's close. She rolls, scoots, or does whatever she can to get to where she wants. Whitney still has just her bottom two teeth and as previously mentioned she is a wonderful eater. Her sleeping has improved too, and she's good for a solid 11 or 12 hours at night. Naps are a little more challenging. Whitney now regularly says "mama" and occasionally says "dada" or "baba". I'm not convinced she knows to associate the words with the person or item, but it's fun to hear. Whitney still enjoys putting anything and everything in her mouth, and if you look very closely you'll notice her (very blonde) hair is starting to grow. Her favorite time of the day is when daddy comes home from work. Whitney is truly a blessing and makes everyday extra special. She is the sweetest little girl anyone could ask for.

Last weekend Whitney's Godmother, Elizabeth, came down for a visit. Whitney always has a fun time when she's around. Especially if she's feeding her! Whitney has progressed infinitely from her first time having solid foods. Now she is a great eater and will eat pretty much anything we put in front of her, never showing signs of a full tummy. After Elizabeth's visit, mommy and Whitney went back with Elizabeth and spent a couple days with the rest of the family. Unfortunately mommy forgot to take pictures.

family trip to florida

Accompanied by Mommy and Daddy, Whitney just returned from a wonderful trip to Florida. This involved her first ride on an airplane, first visit to the ocean, and first time swimming in a pool. As for the airplane, she left a lot to be desired in terms of being a model passenger, but luckily it was a relatively short flight. Whitney absolutely loved swimming in the pool and was quite enthralled by the ocean waves. Despite the fact that naps were scarce and bedtimes were very late, Whitney was a delight and made this a very special trip for Mommy and Daddy.
