fun friday!
Yesterday Uncle Pat, Aunt Laura, and cousins Henry, Oliver & Nathaniel were passing through town. We met them for lunch at the Rainforest Cafe and celebrated Nathaniel's 3rd birthday. Despite all of the craziness at the restaurant, Whitney had no trouble getting a nap in.
As if that wasn't enough excitement, cousin Elizabeth took the train down from Milwaukee to spend the day with us. Whitney always enjoys her special time with her Godmother. Mom and dad like it too because they were able to have friends over for a bbq and go to a Mason Jennings show.

whitney's baptism weekend extravaganza
One year and one week later, we gathered our family and headed back to Sacred Heart Church and the Heidel House Resort in Green Lake, Wisconsin. However, instead of it being for our wedding, this time it was for Whitney's baptism. It was an incredible weekend and Whitney celebrated like a champ! I mean what baptism is complete without a boat cruise, brunch, golf, swimming, multi-generational gown, and a cake larger than the guest of honor!
Whitney was the 18th person to wear the Kelly family baptismal gown. This beautiful gown was made with love by Whitney's great-great grandmother (on Mary's side) and great-great aunt over 95 years ago!
Whitney's cake was made by the same person that did our wedding cakes last year and was an absolute work of art.

soccer and bears
Whitney proved to be a good luck charm at Godmother/cousin Elizabeth's soccer game... her varsity team is going to the state tournament!
After the game Whitney had her first overnight visit at Nana and Papa's house. It was there that she befriended daddy's childhood buddies. Despite Whitney's attempt to stretch out as much as possible, she was taller than only 2 of the 3 bears. I don't imagine that will be the case for long.

introduction to eagle river, wi
Whitney made her first trip to Eagle River over Memorial Day weekend. We were a little nervous about the long car ride, but she handled it like a champ (which bodes well for many more future trips). Whitney was greeted by a personalized message that her cousins made just for her. We lucked out with gorgeous weather the entire weekend and fun was had by all. To top it off, mommy and daddy were able to go out for a nice wedding anniversary dinner due to the abundance of eager babysitters!
