mid-week photo update

Here are some recent shots of Whitney. It's becoming evident that she isn't a newborn anymore, but in fact a little girl!

I had a wonderful day with Whitney on my birthday. Too bad daddy had to work, but we all went out to dinner afterwards.

pass the popcorn

Whitney had a blast at a slumber party with Nana over the weekend. Cousins Bridget and Mary Claire were there too joining in on the fun. While all this was going on, mom and dad were able to spend some time with friends boating (thanks Matt and Charlie!) and going to a Jack Johnson concert.

some of my new friends...

I'm a little late in posting these pictures from our visit to Minnesota a couple weeks ago. My good friend Lisa, and her daughter Simone, met us for a nice afternoon at Lake Harriet. Simone is one month younger than Whitney and the girls got along wonderfully. I wasn't able to capture it on film, but the two girls were holding hands several times, without the mommies even staging it!

Whitney also met Nora for the first time and got to hang out in her super cool pink bedroom. Nora is the same age (3) as her mom, Leah, and I were when we became friends. This is sure to be a lifelong friendship in the making...

We also visited my friend Stacey and her kids. Unfortunately I had a mishap with my camera and no longer have the photos to show from the visit. A final highlight of the trip was when 6 of my good friends and their children got together for a group playdate. The kiddies ranged in age from 2 months to 4 years old. Whitney wasn't able to partake in much of the "playing", but all of the older kids were very sweet toward her. We can't wait to visit everyone again!

Happy Birthday Oliver!

3 months old!

Whitney continues to bring more and more joy into our lives each day. She is a very social girl that loves to be around people and spend time outside. Of course there is still room for a little improvement (early evening fussiness and sleep habits), but we really couldn't ask for a better baby!

Whitney's latest interests/hobbies include:

singing

blowing bubbles

reading

cramming her fists in her mouth

and challenging herself to get both a fist and tutu into her mouth

good friends, music, food and memories

Whitney had another busy weekend, complete with visits from friends both new and old. On Saturday night she wasn't too interested in going to bed when all of this fun was taking place right outside her nursery. Who can blame her?!

One of the highlights was hearing a song that her new friend, Seamus, wrote which was inspired by Whitney herself! It was definitely a special song and a special moment.

introduction to hudson, wisconsin

Whitney just got back from a mini vacation to Wisconsin and Minnesota. After spending the fourth of July at Grandma and Grandpa Carlson's cabin, daddy went home to work while mommy and Whitney stayed behind for the week. Grandma and Grandpa spent lots of quality time with Whitney taking her on stroller rides, playing on her activity mat, doing some arts and crafts, going out to lunch, and seeing the sights of Hudson. Both mommy and Whitney enjoyed the week very much.

Independence Day Weekend

Whitney had a weekend full of fun summertime firsts. The festivities began with attending Summerfest on Friday night. While Whitney couldn't enjoy the turkey legs, corn on the cob, funnel cake, and Saz's sourcream fries like her parents did, she seemed to like the loud music and interesting mix of people.

Despite the busy evening, there would be no sleeping in on Saturday morning. We were on the road at 6:00am so Whitney could experience her next first: a weekend at Grandma and Grandpa Carlson's cabin in Cumberland, WI. It was here that Whitney attended her first Fourth of July party and went on her first pontoon ride. Some highlights include:

Cruising in the pontoon.

Taking a snooze on the high seas.

Playing with Cousin Drew.

Grandpa telling Whitney about the fish he caught. He claims it was 2 times the length of Whitney.

Hanging out on the porch with Grandma.

Swinging with daddy.

Daddy using his Megal experience to help Drew with some grounds maintenance.
After being teased a little for her pale skin, Whitney decided to work on her tan.

And best of all... Cousin Drew delivering the flower he hand-picked for Whitney.
